机井在农业灌溉、工业用水中广泛使用，其应用数量众多，分布极广。将机井的电气控制设备、水栗、用水计量设备等置于露天，存在明显的安全问题，电气控制设备等容易被毁坏，导致机井无法正常运行。通常人们在井口上搭建简易的遮挡物，保护水井和电气控制设备的功能及其寿命都有限，并且很不美观。而在水栗安装之后，采用砖砌构建的机井房，施工速度慢，工人的劳动强度大，建设成本高，并且该机井房是固定的，由于空间狭小，对于机井的维修都非常不便。
